So I have found an oil leak and took some pics. I wanted to know if anybody has experienced the oil on the bottom of the oil pan and around it and if so from looking at these pictures if you could try to help me diagnose what gaskets I could possibly need to stop the oil leak.[img][IMG]http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s82/ ... 182156.jpg[/img][/img]

Re: R90/6 Oil Leak Help
Could be a couple of leaks there, all in the usual places. I would give it a good wash - firstly with a brush and solvent, then detergent and pressure wash. Then when you go for a ride you will see exactly where the fresh oil is coming from.
Looking at the third picture it appears that there is oil on the 'shelf' under the gearbox. This can be from the engine rear main seal and/or the gearbox input shaft seal. Very common thing and requires gearbox removal to fix. Don't worry, it is all fixable and will add greatly to your Airhead knowledge base. Do the wash first so you know what it needs.

The bike is not in driving forme as I have taken it apart. I'll just replace the seals and see if that works.Airbear wrote:Could be a couple of leaks there, all in the usual places. Re: R90/6 Oil Leak Help
You can easily tell if the oil is from the input seal of the transmission, or the rear main seal of the engine. They smell totally different. It could be both.
Removing the transmission will show the oil washing down the front of the case, or not. There are other very small possibilities too. Does the clutch slip?

Ask the Indians what happens when you don't control immigration.

Yep. If you dump the photobucket url into your text, you don't need to click on the img box on your text page.Rob wrote:It looks like you somehow doubled up on the prefix [img] code.Patdabin wrote:How did you post the pics to see them? What did I do wrong
You can resize via pb easy enough. 600 wide is usually plenty.

No not that I know of. I will need to separate the two and see. I am debating installing not clutch plate while open.Duane Ausherman wrote:You can easily tell if the oil is from the input seal of the transmission, or the rear main seal of the engine. They smell totally different. It could be both.

What are some other things I should be doing to the bike while I'm at it. Maintenence or just time repairs. Timing chain?
