I would try to remove any burrs ahead of the broken lifter first and then carefully heat the block with a good heat gun around the opening. I had to do this on my /2 and it worked. If it moves freely for some distance then I would think that the damage if any is in front where you should be able to ...

I like Fusor #170 industrial strength clear double sided 2.2 cm wide tape. It is very durable and easy to use without the glue oozing mess or wait time. Their web site is www.fusor.com.

Matt, "the guy" in the NW that specializes in exhaust thread repair is Paul Sturges in Newberg Oregon. The phone no. that I have is (503) 538-five one six zero. I haven't used him, but I have talked to him in the past and his price was reasonable and he came highly recommended.
