Re: Best ignition curve

A very loose baseline is to advance the timing in small increments until it pings under load and then retard it slightly until the pinging no longer occurs.

Re: Since we,re on side stands

After decades of putting up with the stock side stand on my PD, I ended up designing and fabricating a proper unbreakable and unbendable one. The stock stand (and all the aftermarket ones presently available) will bend like a wet noodle if the the bike is tilted far enough over to lift it on its whe...

Re: Crankshaft sprocket removal question.

Re-assembly tip: Bake the new crankshaft sprocket in the oven at 375F for half an hour and douse the end of the crank with freeze spray the new sprocket will slide right back into place with minimal resistance. Gloves recommended.

Re: R50/5 Final drive pinion bearing removal

Heat up the area around the bearing until it's really hot (with a heat gun, not a torch) and then knock the complete assembly on a block of hardwood in the right direction and the pinion shaft will fall out with the bearing.

Your idle circuit is blocked. It's clearly illustrated in the third link in the first post here:
