Do you have the cylinders off the bike?
Do you need to have the cylinders bored out to the next size over, or just honed for new rings?
A cylinder hone is not an expensive tool and the skill set to do honing to break the glaze is not very high.

I had the same problem with the headlight ring on my /5. I finally installed the ring just right ,rotating it left and right till it caught at the top and then installed a small black zip tie at the bottom.

My charging problem turned out to be solved by replacing the rotor and replaceing some associated wiring.

My /5 smokes also if the oil level is up to the full line, I keep it at about 1/8th of an inch down. When I shut down at the end of a ride I keep the bike level, while I pull off my helmet and gloves, letting the cylinder oil drain back to the sump.I always use the side stand and only go to the cent...
