Re: Converting to electronic ignition

I ran the beancan points for quite a few thousand miles before going electronic & found them easier to set up & maintain than the pre 79 in that you can remove the 'can from the bike to set/check the points on the workbench rather than grovelling around in situ on the bike. To be fair on an ...

Re: Converting to electronic ignition

Matt For me it's all about ease of maintenance, personally I find the points a bit of a pain to set up pre 79's, not a show stopper though + the omega did get rid of the irritating double timing image during the short period of time it worked...... On my 79 Rt, pure idleness... to reduce routine mai...

Re: Early Krauser Pannier lock key question

Darryl Most if not all of the early pannier locks are key no. 150, should say "S150" on top of the lock next to the key hole. Keys are available from sherlocks & works.+ if you still have the "ejector" type seatbelt type pannier to frame mounts either use a strap or the bolt ...

How long have you been running the sachse ? as it seems the favourite option for pre '79 bikes especially, imho.

I've gone off both the boyer & omega due to slight misfires which I suspect are due to some sort of electrical interference.

Re: Converting to electronic ignition

Darryl I would seriously consider "Ignition trigger unit with electronic advance ( 2 valve R 1981 on ) | ELA44087" from motorworks if you are doing a fair mileage + you can carry your old beancan as a backup for peace of mind. 30,000 miles so far & no adjustment or problems. In both th...

Re: Please explain?

Steve It's what's known in Blighty as a R100SRS, allegedly a cancelled Australian police bike order, very low numbers. If genuine it will have an Australian type approval plate riveted on top of the swinging arm under the battery tray. Basically a 78 RS motorsport with an S fairing, in addition to t...
