Welkom
IMNSHO maintain this classic bike, and use it the way it was designed to be used. It's a great design, and you will only become less satisfied with it if you try to "improve it". I ride a KTM 990 SMT and when I get back on my R100S it feels kinda frumpy until I get used to it again. Then I'm totally happy with it.
Want to compare speed and efficiency against you Aprilla?
Set them up side by side with a timer. See how long it takes to do a valve adjustment, then decide which bike is fast!
Instead of spending two days in the shop working on the Italian slut, you'll be riding through Dinxperlo on the way to der fatherland on a seriously good motorcycle

Hello All, thank you for all you replies , have bin a way for some days, nice weekend at Spa Francorchamps, a big classic meeting, want to participate next year whit the RS.
I will do some modifications, but keep the bike appearance original.
Not like some bikes on the photo's , but I would not withhold them from you.
I will keep you posted on the progress, I will start working on the bike soon, yesterday on the way home the clutch started slipping, so that needs to be fixed anyway.
Found the topic a bout he handlebar mounted mc. Thanks.
Steve, thanks, Whit the dellorto's I will ad an K&N replacement filter in the original air filter housing.
Keep you posted about the outcome, will dyno it certainly. Want to know what the modifications did.
again thank you all, and I will keep you posted

Thank you ME 109, never said I was compairing the Aprilia with RS, not a honest comparison, love riding both bikes.ME 109 wrote:Hello Bor, welcome to Boxerworks.
Top choice, the RS. To be as nimble and fast as your Aprilia, you just need to ride your RS in the right place.
Super tight mountain twisties.
There is a current thread regarding handlebar mounted mc. You'll get lots of help here.
So nice to keep the RS as an RS. A seriously capable machine, in my totally biased opinion.

Rebbel, that is trough, normally you lose 10-15% from the crank to the rear wheel. So it is not to bad.Rebel wrote:Welcome!!
Nice Bike!! From what I remember a '79 should pump out about 70 horsepower, so with the age, mileage, and the fact that you are taking the dyno reading from the rear wheel and not the crankshaft, I would say you have a quite healthy RS.

The bike looks great. If you add the open keihens and dell's, it'd be interesting to compare the dyno run to your 55hp baseline.
Are you running 170 main jets?

It would indeed be fun Bor, to have both bikes. I was just being a cheeky bastard.BorS wrote: Thank you ME 109, never said I was compairing the Aprilia with RS, not a honest comparison, love riding both bikes.
Keen to see what you produce with the RS.

Crash bars. I had those on my bike once. Took them off 'cause there's no way I wanted my bike to explode.Jeff in W.C. wrote:

I think they exploded, it was something like that anyways.
