I have an ultrasonic cleaner which should fit a whole carb in it. I am afraid of damaging it with petrol based chemicals though.

I think I'll try to the ATF / Acetone trick. Do you just soak the carbs in a bucket of that stuff and see what happens?

Texer - these are my first DellOrtos. I'd love a copy too.

Josh, I use about a 20% mix of Simple Green and hot tap water in my ultrasonic cleaner with very good results. No toxic fumes!

i Wouldn't think that petrol based cleaners should harm them. They are designed to be fuel wet /fuel vapours etc.

I use simple green, laundry detergent and other soaps in my ultrasonic cleaner. I read somewhere in the manual to avoid flammable fluids though. Mine is probably meant more for medical devices vs motorcycle parts... but so be it.

When people do the ATF mix, is it done in a bucket or ??

Be careful how long you leave the carburetor body in your ultrasonic cleaner. When I did the carburetor on one of my cars using just dish soap and water for an extended period it took the finish off the body. I have had it take Parkerizing off firearm parts.

Wow, I never would have imagined - especially about taking Parkerizing off.

I left a bunch of NOS M1 carbine bolts in there over night, took some of the finish off them. I guess it was some bad vibes.

JJ and 2valve, I just made a pdf of the Dellorto guide. What's the best way to get this to you?
