We had just changed board formats when I started that thread, so it appears to go quickly for a bit and then it's a couple years before the bike is done. There should be some updates coming if I can get some peace from work. The goal is to finish the winter maintenance by May 1.

I need help here. I am trying to rebuild the front forks but don't know what parts to buy. If someone could give me the part numbers need to order. Also bmwChuck is over priced so not a solution.

This is my favorite parts fiche. Just put your VIN number in the Serial Number: field and save it to your favorites.

I'm trying to order the same parts kit the Chuck has but for a better price. I just don't know what to order. 90. Bucks seems like a lot as his master cylinder rebuild kit is $30 more them I found on 2 other sites
I have used A&S https://www.ascycles.com/2/for most of my parts since they are a BMW dealer and they have a fiche so I can look up the stuff I need. Like anything else, one has to do a bit of comparison shopping. For most OEM parts, dealers are really close, when you start using some of the smaller venders, you have to check as they as good on some stuff and horrid on others. But in their defense, I have found spares that the dealers didn't have with them.

The realOem site is great for helping what to get as the fiche can confirm things and also supply the part number. It can also list what other bikes use that same part, which can be very useful.
However its not a site to buy from and their prices aren't a great guide either. The https://www.maxbmwmotorcycles.com/fiche/PartsFiche.aspx fiche is better for that and for you, they're on your right coast. They're a working dealer.
nice rack, is that custom? I would love to get one as I have a '78 with the same seat.

If you are going the cafe route a lower and flatter seat is normally a requirement, so save yourself some trouble and keep the stock suspension.
