Thanks Barry, I will see what I can lay my hands on here in NZ.

Ikon makes shocks in Oz. They make them for your bike.

Do you have a preference for brand of rear shock absorber by chance?

Phil
MY R60/6 is on stock shocks and springs. The shock absorbers are still good and the springs are adjustable so I can see no reason to change. The R100RS is currently on IKONs. The old version which is a straight copy of the original aftermarket KONIs. Rebuilt once and good... I also have a pair of the KONIs awaiting rebuild. FWIW, the R80RT is on an original (Mono) shock absorber but not the original which developed a leak some years ago. It spent some time on an IKON which eventually gave up the ghost. Reading between the lines, the ealry IKONS for Mono bikes weren't the best shocks they ever produced.

Hi,

Thanks for your detailed info on shocks you have used, I see that most people get either IKONs or Hagon and that Koni no longer make Motorcycle suspension, I did many years ago have Koni on my CX500 and they were better but did leak after 10k miles.
I can get either IKON or Hagon easily it's just a matter of what brand is better and as I have never had either I will see who offers the best deal and aftermarket service that will win the day.

I went for a 200 mile ride on the bike yesterday in nice 24deg C temp with some friends and the bike never missed a beat and did attract a lot of admiring attention, the only down side was it was a tiring ride with the current suspension and the rear is the main culprit, the front I am now convinced I have used a fluid that is too heavy so it's no big drama changing it.

The Bike even as it is still puts a smile on my face and looking at my other bike a F800GS on what to ride I go for the R80, maybe it's a pride thing knowing all the work I have put in to it or that I know it's easy to fix if it goes wrong not like the GS where you need a computer to even start working out the hell has gone wrong (I have one as a matter of fact) and the cost of parts is crazy.

Once again Rob thanks for your time :D

From Austria somewhere, I think. Must have had the Ikons shipped over from Oz.

The link is now broken - video is private... I guess the guy didn't want his riding 'skills' displayed for all and sundry to see :D

FWIW, Ikon shocks are readily available in europe and, I think, in the US. The units supplied for twinshock airheads are no longer straight copies of the old Koni units. I've not used the new units so can't comment on them.
