The throttle lock screw is a godsend on stretches of long highway -which we have plenty of here in Texas.

Yes, you do have to remember to physically close the throttle to slow down. Fortunately, it takes only one "Oh, s**t" moment to train youself.

I also have a 1995 900 Triumph Trophy that is fitted with a CrampBuster. It also does the job and at a very reasonable cost.

The use of lighter pull carb springs makes for less effort to twist the grip. With them, you can back off on the screw for less drag. Even easier to do the twist. Easier to shut it down. My throttle screw was leaving grooves in throttle tubes where it was dragging when tight enough to work. That, and really messed up wrists, convinced me to try the lighter springs. The springs and a decent seat have made the rides between gas pumps much more enjoyable. Now, only the the gas pumps are a pain.

Those things can be deadly. They are great on a slab ride, but beware. Very beware.

I had one on my KTM 950 when I went over a railroad level crossing. I gave it a squirt as I went over, the front came up.... and with that damn thing on, I couldn't back off. I was vertical at 80kmh and increasing in second gear.... thinking "this is going to be a hospital trip". You physically cannot back off - and the design of it pulls the throttle on as the bike goes up. I'm damned if I know how I got down.... my left foot fell off the pegs, but I'm guessing I must've got the rear brake with my right. I was 100% convinced I was going over backwards. It wasn't pretty as I came down either.

Hey Barndead, what was the outcome of your collapsing oil filter?

Changed oil after the internal dig. 3 months or so later it was fine...but I hadn't ridden it but a few miles. Changed to slightly lighter weight oil and another filter. Riding it like I stole it. Go or blow. Not even a chainsaw will slow it down 'til one of us pops.

Does anyone know of a throttle lock that i could fit or fabricate, something that would allow me to just rest my hand on top of the grip for a while while riding ?
I use the NEP cruise control, very simple to install and adjust, better than the Vista Cruise, I had one on my R80RT and currently on my R75/5, Aerostich carries them for about $20.
