Getting the calipers apart was a challenge. I took them from my R100S spares bike, its brakes were tragic and since I took it off the road the parts have sat around for 5 years. I searched the forum and found a tip to heat the caliper and then use compressed air. Piston sure pops out with a bang .... there are probably safer ways?

ps Any opinions on pitting of the piston? One is too far gone, but the other (pic) only has some pits above the seal line.

If it's as you say should be good to go i reckon... but then again i've never seen the insides of those calipers before.
I see m'bins has newies for £82.50, not cheap... but you only have one per caliper... and it that fails then... hmmm... if it t'was me i'd be happy 'nuf to use the corroded pistons AS LONG AS THE PITTING IS WELL AWAY FROM THE SEALS!

That's the chrome worn off the lower part of my left fork leg. I had the other one hard chromed & ground ten years ago and this one was marginal then. I think this time I might buy a new pattern stanchion from Motobins. About $160AUD plus postage. Italian made, anyone else tried them?
