oil pressure switch /5

Post by lelocp »

has anyone purchased an oil pressure switch from capital cycle? Mine came in today with a copper crush washer and I was wondering if its for the later models. is there any way to tell by thread count?

What part number did they use? Do they use BMW part numbers? BMW Hucky shows part number 61 31 1 351 799 for /5s (remember there's another thread that says early /5s use pipe threads) and 61 31 1 243 414 for /6 -on. They list M10 for /5 and M12 for /6-on...that might be the metric thread size.

That number is correct for the /5, but it doesn't require a washer. It should have a tapered "pipe" thread. The switch for the later bikes, that comes with a washer, has coarser straight threads, like a bolt.
