Re: Flickering oil pressure light
After a couple hours of poking and prodding. Turns out it was a loose electrical plug. Was not unplugged, but enough to break the circuit.

Re: Flickering oil pressure light
I have also had the instruments on and off a couple times last week replacing bulbs. The continuity might be the plug in the back of the instruments not fitting properly.

Re: Flickering oil pressure light
Thanks Duane. I did not replace the oil pressure sensor on this bike as I have never had one fail. I was talking to the original owner yesterday and said that he has never replaced the sensor and it is the original. The sensor is 33 years and 192,000 km old. Yesterday. I was playing around hoping it ...

Flickering oil pressure light
Well, that did not quite go as planned. Today was the big annual classic bike show at Ross. Sunny day cruising at 110pkh. 3/4 quarters the way to Ross. The oil light start flickering. Stop have quick look and check oil level. Nothing obvious. Decide to ride the last 20km to Ross with the light on. T...

Re: Batteries .
That is a good price for a Deka. I had them in my RS an gave no hint of a problem. This time I am giving an Exide gel motorcycle battery ago. Similar CCA to a Deka and for a around $130.
Time will tell if this was a good deal or not.

Re: Hole in shaft boot
I have only just got my bike back on the road after a complete frame up rebuild. The rides i have ridden were to see if there are any leaks and make sure every thing is right before a lot longer ride this week end.

Re: Hole in shaft boot
I was sitting on 4500 - 5000 rpm for most of the day today. The boot did not leak. I have a bit to much Hondamoly 60 on the rear wheel splines and it has oozed out over the back wheel and lost a front brake bolt Guess the Loctite is going make an appearance

Re: SteveD made me do it.
Had a spare hour or so. I pulled the speedo apart and painted the needle black and the red graduations black. Far easier to read now :geek: A few photos from today's ride: Grand old Dames out for a sprint. http://justdan.smugmug.com/Bikes/BMW-R100RT/i-GsfNsQg/0/L/IMG_0824-L.jpg http://justdan.smugmu...

Re: Hole in shaft boot
I had four small holes in the rubber boot. By the time, I had ridden about 10km the boot would be covered in oil and would be enough to drip on the ground. A couple of dabs of super glue. I have done a couple 200km rides at decent speed and and not a drop of oil leaking anywhere.

Re: Hole in shaft boot
Spooky. This what I was doing this afternoon.
Simple fix. Clean the oil out the holes and use a dab of super glue. The old super glue and clean rubber are made for each other.
